Of course it will cost more, because you'll be getting two more years of protection. To compare prices, you need to compare the cost of a 6-year GMPP purchased at 11 months (after your car's in-service date) to the cost of a 4-year GMPP purchased at 35 months. Both plans will expire at the same time. Once you make this comparison, you'll see what I mean... PLUS, you can sell a GMPP plan back for a prorated amount. If you buy a 4-year plan at one year and total your car just as the factory warranty expires (two years later), you'll have gotten NOTHING from the extended warranty because for the two years you had it, it overlapped the factory warranty. But, when you sell it back, you'll get half what you paid (minus the admin. fee) because it is 2 years into a 4-year plan. PLUS, waiting until just before your factory 36/36 warranty expires give you almost 3 years to decide whether or not to mod. So many people don't plan to mod (and fall for the dealer's sales pitch, "the best time to get extended coverage is now.. price will be higher later"). Then the read this forum and get modding fever and start modding... It only makes sense to wait until just before your factory 36/36 warranty expires to buy a GMPP extended warranty.

What's the easiest way to get a refund on the major guard?
Go to a dealer or write to them? I no longer need it as the car will be traded in before the summer is out |

Rolling along...

I called GMPP directly. They sent me a form to send back and I also needed to include a mileage statement from a dealer (which was easy because I already had the odometer disclosure form from the trade-in).

I always liked these plans . I was going to purchase before the 12 months but the more I think about it I am going to wait until just before my 3/36 expires . I will know by then if I am keeping the car or not . Then I will have miles and miles of pretty much worry free driving .
