RHD 2016 Camaro

Hi Quinny,
Its on track. A painstaking engineering project and lengthy time wise. Doing the prototyping on the steering rack right now. Plus into the interior dash and console. It will be a 2017 debut for sure. Much harder to do than the previous 2010 to 2015YM Camaro's to RHD (Right Hand Drive).

Right Hand Drive GEN 6 Camaro Coupes

Thought these might be of interest, we have had them RHD for some time now. Two done, and finishing up the 2018ZL1 and 2018 yenko (yes, RHD Yenko!).

Do you have to have a RHD to drive it legally there? I had a RHD car imported here to the states and drove with no issues for a couple years. Driving a car on the wrong side has only minor issues day to day, I just couldn't see converting it unless you had to.

Same here. Decades ago, I had a US Mail Jeep, and drove it on the right, with the controls/steering on the right. Took all of one afternoon to get accustomed to the weird location.
(mental block??!!)

Yes, it must be RHD, and Australian Design Rule Compliannt and complianced, meaning having Federal Government approval to compliance it as an approved low volume vehicle manufacturer for that Make/Model etc, plus all lights tested, wipers changed, electronics, Australian mapping SatNav, memory seats changed, amber rear indicators, the list goes on and on.....

We didn't do that. It is a genuine brand new with 20 miles on the clock 2018YM Yenko, one of 69 in the world, and the only one in the Southern hemisphere (south of the equator)!

Yes, memory seats had to be moved to other side, as well as airbag weight sensor in seat etc, memory motors moved, electronic s changed....a huge job in electrics, plus electronics to split the rear turn/brake signal and have fast-flash on the amber turn signals now installed. Euro reverse light at rear you might notice too.

Also surprised you cannot source parts from the Euro Camaro. It is sold here in UK in limited numbers. I have a 2018 model
It has amber rear indicators, rear fog light, larger wing mirrors that fold in, side proximity alert, right hand drive headlights, a radio that tunes into our frequencies and a sat nav that works in all European countries...all straight from the factory

Chevvy have therefore done a lot of the ground work

OK we still only get them in left hand drive here but we are permitted to drive lhd cars of any age without issue here in UK

Always amazing how you manage to do these conversion so well...never understood how you manage to reverse the dashboard and controls so cleanly and tidily. Very impressive work ...but must add quite some cost to the car

As for Chevvy not making a RHD version...I suppose there is good and bad in that. Mustangs are rather commonplace here now and I saw quite a few in Oz too last time I was there.. so its sort of lost its unique "American" image somewhat. As an everyday sight Mustangs are just not quite so special anymore

Camaro however are still extremely rare here in UK...you rarely see them...Thats a big plus for many drivers
That must appeal to drivers in Oz too and help soften the blow of the conversion cost
