Crazy things people do....
I wanted a manual car back, tried the 1LE but I couldn't find a good deal close, and the deal for the stingray was very good.

Thinking about doing the same thing. I just did all the research and now waiting for GM incentives to get just a little bit better on 1 or 2LT Vettes. There are two 17 Grand Sports left over at my dealer and they are offering a ton of money off, but it would still be more cost effective to get a 1LT on a lease. I plan on doing the same bolt ons that I have on my Camaro, and I don't need all the Grand Sport upgrades because I only ever take it drag racing.
Couple things I like about the Stingray over the Camaro: visibility and rear cargo storage (no convertible for me). I like the overall styling and the drive itself better with the Vette. I feel more connected to the road and the driver's seat position helps with that feel. Things I like about the Camaro over the Stingray: Passenger seat comfort and recline ability (and that doesn't say much since the 6th gen Camaro doesn't allow the seats to recline as far as the 5th gen). Much more relaxing for longer 2 hour road trips as far as I can predict since I haven't taken a Vette on a long trip yet. But I couldn't stretch out in the driver's or passenger seat in the Vette very well.

Better get your 'Vettes now. From what I have read, and of course the internet isn't always the most reliable source, but besides the new mid-engine design of the C8 and switching to a DOHC engine design, it's going to lose the 3 pedal manual transmission.
They're trying to put the 'Vette into the driveways of snobs who just want to be seen rather than pure enthusiasts. Gonna tick off a lot of us Corvette purists. I come from a Corvette family, my uncle has a '74 350 4 speed convertible and a 2013 427 6 speed convertible, and my Mom has a 2016 7 speed with the Z51 package, carbon fiber package, and red brake calipers. Yes, my 67 year old mother drives stick. No more manual, no more pushrod, engine moved behind the seats, and probably a stratospheric price tag. We are all disappointed about the direction GM wants to take the Corvette. |

The Camaro has a back seat? I wondered why that area has vinyl on it, instead of carpet ...
Enjoy the C7. I previously owned a C5 Z06 and a C6 with Z51, so I know how you’re thinking. This time, I just decided to get a 1SS 1LE because it was a little more raw and I really just wanted more of a hot rod. It didn’t hurt to save more than $20K compared to the C7 GS I specced either BTW, the C7 will be around another 3 years, eventually being sold side-by-side with the C8, but the Camaro will be just fine for me until the C8 comes out with a manual tranny (since buyers finally will rebel enough for GM to listen). |
