Recommendation for trailer straps
I got a trailer and looking for some good straps that you guys have used that you like. I bought some cheap ones for now but looking for something higher quality that I can use long term.

I also used Mac's in the past. No longer dragging cars around the country in a trailer.

Definitely go with Macs. I got the 4 strap kit w/axle straps for about $250 or so.

I have the ZL 1 Addons strap points and I use the axle straps around the trailer front framework. Took me a bit to come up with a setup that works with my Z/28 and my 18ft Sloan Kwik Load trailer but my amateur engineering paid off.

+1 for Macs. Get the version with the ratchet attached to the clip for less knuckle busting.

I have a 6th gen set that I bought a while ago for the turbo I used to have. After I replaced the turbo with an SS 1LE, I bought Strano's points (full disclosure: Sam's a good friend, but I paid full price). The ZL1addon rear points had issues on my turbo. I don't know if they bent or something moved or what, but after first use, they forever interfered with the rear sway bar causing clunks on broken surfaces, so I wound up removing them and then only putting them back on when the car was towed. I never used the fronts because they (like Strano's) rely on bolts from the V8's shear plate that the turbo doesn't have, so I used e-track. Strano's points are gusseted and WAY beefier feeling than the ZL1addons. The Strano rear points mount to the forward rear subframe bolts which means they can't interfere with the sway bar, but the bolts are single use. I think everyone reuses those bolts without issue, but they're cheap. The ZL1addons use the aft rear subframe bolts. The ZL1addons front points for the 6th gen mount horizontally (unlike the 5th gen points like the one pictured above) and want you to use a hole in the shear plate to insert your hook's end. The ZL1addons' point essentially acts as a steel reinforcement to the aluminum shear plate. The Strano points hang down with a hole (more like the 5th gen points mentioned above) that is easier to access and gives you more options for what kind of hook you use. The downside is that because they hang down, they may scrape on speedbumps. I don't know of anyone else that makes points for 6th gens. I don't think Strano made too many in his last batch, but I think he still has some available. http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...397&ModelID=49

Nice, those Stranos look like they could be the hot setup for the 6 folks. Another option (depending on trailer length and configuration) is strapping down through the wheels. I do this with my C5 Vette and it is fairly easy and has worked pretty good for the last year or so that I've been running HPDE.

This works great for my trailer setup. Lots of options to choose from https://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/p...32334633173066

Christian, in my enclosed trailer I'm running Erickson e track straps and e track on the floor. Not sure if you're interested in laying down e track but once you do to me this is the quickest easiest way to secure a car. Now if you're doing multiple cars then you may to use a d ring setup instead.
The Ericksons are about $40 a strap which is almost half the price of the Macs. No doubt the Macs looks like a quality product but the Ericksons are no slouch either. https://www.farmandhomesupply.com/er...gaAjKAEALw_wcB Last edited by Kmeleon; 10-10-2022 at 11:28 AM. |
