U.S. Population-300 million
$100 million movie divided by $10 tickets=10 million people saw it.
This is the reason why Gone with the Wind is still the highest grossing movie ever made. Adjusted for inflation, it made $6 billion. And that's not an exaggeration.

Nowadays I only spend my money on movies I KNOW I'll like. Back when movies were $8, my friends and I would see any stupid thing that was playing AND buy popcorn, AND buy drinks. These crazy price hikes are going to kill the industry.

Quit going to the movies years ago, just not worth it when you can wait and watch at home for so much less.

Exactly. I only pay for movies I feel I HAVE to see on the big screen. Avatar, Transformers, Clash of the Titans, etc.

How do you think they keep breaking box office records? Just keep up the price increase!

I havent been to a theatre in at least 2 years. I just rent what I want to see.

Just went to see Green Zone with the wife. $15 to get in the door (matinee pricing) and almost $40 for hotdogs, popcorn and two medium drinks. I'm still having issues sitting down.

I definitely NEVER buy food at the theater. i don't know how they legally justify price gouging, but that's exactly what it is. How was the movie though, that one looked pretty good!

Well people that live in the large cities, happen to have a different mentality. We are used to paying a lot of money for stupid s*it, whereas middle america is used to buying stuff for a lot cheaper. The opportunity for such a huge markup doesn't exist.

I'll give you an example - I'm used to paying $2 for a 2L bottle of coke, but when I get outside of the populated areas, all of a sudden I can pay $1.50

I told the wife that if we're going to continue seeing movies in the theater then she has to start using her "cavern" purse to haul munchies and drinks in. Lord knows it's big enough to haul and entire turkey dinner in.

The movie was excellent. If you are a fan of the last two Bourne movies (Supremacy, Ultimatum) then you'll love this one. Paul Greengrass directed it with Matt Damon as the lead. I would recommend it to people in a heartbeat.

Go see it! Now!

LMAO. I thought it was rediculous that I have to pay 7.50 for tickets here.
