I should have added in the summer these things are awesome as well, not to mention the look compliments my car pretty well

That's what I wanted to know. I see you're an LS3 as well. It's always on a hard shift when it breaks loose in the summer.

The snow is still here! The main roads are clear, but i'd be careful in parking lots and side streets. My car is still parked.

Kicking a** and chewing bubblegum last December in 13" of snow in my '12 2LS.

BTW, I was out of bubblegum.

The stock 18" BF Goodrich All Weather tires did their job and shoved what Mother Nature had to offer back in her face!!

Looks like another 8-14" here in Wichita on Monday. I think I'd recommend you cancel your trip if you haven't already GotGame55... Completely sick of this crap.

8-15" forecasted for us starting tomorrow afternoon. At least it's 40 today to melt a bit of what we got last Thur.

Good luck tomorrow!

I figured I could at least have my car till lunch, then just drive the wife's AWD car for the next couple days. I am still having a hard time coming to grips with how sh!tty our cars handle in the snow with the stock Pirellis.

I've had a bunch of FWD cars with no limited-slip differential and an S-10 with no LSD and I've lived in Kansas all my life. I have never been so hopelessly defeated by the snow before! I've always been able to get through it by keeping my speed up, feathering the clutch, etc... That wasn't happening this time. Mercilessly beaten by 1.5" of snow.

Anywho... we spun the car 90 degrees by spinning the tires and pushing sideways on the back of the car, then pushed it into a good samaritan's driveway to the back of their property to get it off the street. I'm glad they were willing to let me shack up for a few hours. I picked it back up this evening with no issues. They plowed the friggin street 10 minutes after I got my car off the road. Nice timing.

Lessons learned:
1) Snow tires are a requirement... not just a good idea.
2) The car has no way to pull it with a strap.
3) Get over it and take a car made for snow. It's not worth the risk!
I feel your pain! I'm currently going to school at McPherson college (doing the Automotive Restoration program) us Auto students are absolutely loving the snow!! my buddy got stuck in the same amount of snow you did, but in his 2004 mustang GT. we spun out in the middle of a 4-way intersection in front of everyone and couldn't get going again haha. My other buddy has a 78 Ford Granada and spun that into a ditch a couple days back. Just glad I don't have my Camaro down here... guess we're supposed to get another 8-13 inches tonight through tomorrow!

Last winter with Pzeros, I couldn't get up the very slight incline in my driveway covered with 1 inch of snow. This year with Blizzaks, I went up the driveway with 8 inches of fresh powder no problem.

I think getting caught part way on the curb was the other half of your problem.

Happened to me once with deep snow when I backed down the driveway too fast in deep snow WITH SNOW TIRES. Right rear tire was half on the curb and I was stuck. Got it out by myself, but never drive with summer tires. And stay off the curbs either way

Yeah. The melt went well today. So-so yesterday. We're down to about a hard-packed 4-5" on side street entrances. Hopefully you guys get spared in this next go-round. It looks like the worst of it could stop just shy of KC.

How is the auto program up there? I've thought about taking a body class or two. We're working on a 1960 Willy's FC-150 and I've got a section of rear quarter panel at the bottom that I just can't seem to get formed right. It's flanged on both edges and has compound radius curves top to bottom AND left to right. It's kicking my ass!

I was stalled and stuck before I got near the curb. I just backed myself up against the curb so I wouldn't get sideswiped by the next guy.

What really happened is I was just starting to get speed built up in the intersection before I got stalled, and a woman in an SUV got tired of waiting on me and started to go. I had to hit my brakes, lost all my speed, and we all know the rest!

the program is pretty good. I have been learning a lot, especially with the sheet metal class i took freshman year. my favorite classes so far have been Sheet Metal Restoration and Engine Rebuilding. when it comes to your Willy's quarter panel, our teacher is basically a sheet metal god and could definitely help you out with it if you take the class

Isn't it though? If I was crafty, I could have put my tail between my legs, admitted she was right, and gotten new tires out of the deal (which I need anyways). Instead, my ego requires that I pretend I wasn't wrong, and get nothing out of the experience whatsoever! Man brain dumb sometimes .
