Just cut filter open on new motor.

Used Joe Gibbs breaking oil and after tuning the car changed the oil and cut filter here's what I found. Normal for a new engine? Or is it killing the bearings?

I would say normal for new engine. Keep on eye on it with next change and should be less.

Oil pressure is staying the same as when it first fired up.

Hard to tell color from pics, but I just found rod bearing out of my friends chevy truck that had bits like that in the oil. His also had terrible rod knock though. That was why we drained the oil. That amount of metal looks excessive. I would be consulting your engine builder for sure.

Ask TSP about it, they will have some good advice. It might also be a good idea to send your oil to Blackstone for analysis from now on.

Could also be shavings from when the block was machined?

Looks bad! Far more metal than would be expected for normal break-in!

I would also have to say that's normal for a new engine.... And now 500 miles later the next round should show a lot less shavings, new engines etc are not hot tanked after milling on a lot of parts good enough to remove all shavings or blown clean enough. Also I would get a magnetic oil pan plug available through g.m., bought one long ago at a dealership.

The oil can make it look gold. It's probably silver in this case. Does a magnet stick to it.?
