Headers w/o tune and won't throw a code?

Time to start modding. Any suggestions on headers that will not require a tune or throw a code?

only shorties, but you will not see much of a gain if any at all with out a tune. best bet is to get long tubes and a tune.

Yup...in CA, if you want to stay smog legal, no choice but the shorties. My JBA's didn't throw any codes, but I didn't see any gains without an upcoming tune

I have BBK Stainless shorties and after 400 miles I haven't thrown a code. Factory stock tune.

If you live in a state that does not have any kind of emission tests, you mine as well go long tubes and a tune. If not you will probably kick your self later if you start modding heavily. And you will gain more sound and hp.

Doug Thorley Shorties are a great Short Tube Header that won't throw any codes and have outstanding gains.

18HP and 35ftlbs of Torque, lifetime warranty, show quality ceramic 3mils of coating inside/5mils outside, all new 10.5 grade hardward (no reusing your old stuff) while staying emissions compliant!

PM me or let me know if there's anything that I can help with to get you started!

Thanks,
Ivan

Contact Dan at ClearImageAutomotive. He has developed a LTH that does not throw a code. Very brilliant design. There are a few post on here you can search.

It's all in the catalytic converter...there is no Trick exhaust to make the car think that it's doing something that it's not.

You can put straight pipes on a car and as long as it has a Cat and the exhaust is being "treated" by the cat, it won't throw a code.

When the A/F tables are changed (by removing the cats) that's when you'll get the CEL.

I thought it was due to the fact that the o2's and cats were moved farther down the pipe away from the engine that threw the code? So what does Clear Image Automotive do to not throw codes on their Long Tube Headers?
