FI spark plugs
what are the best spark plugs to run with forced induction? I installed the tr6 everyone seems to run but there must be something better out there in the approriate heat range .

Ted at Jannetty swears by stock plugs but we use NGKs in our customers cars. My car is using properly tapped stock plugs and runs just as well as TR6s at 700+rwhp.

The Tr6 is a great plug, the only common plug i'd recommend over them is the NGK Iridium series, p/n TR6IX. When the TR6 couldn't keep the fire lit, we always saw cleaner runs with the Iridiums.

In every Nitrous application and in most FI combination's, I would run a non-projected tip plug. This going to open the tuning window and is simply the correct plug to run.
Heat range will vary based on the aggressiveness of the entire combination. Dynamic compression ratio, boost level, fuel type, and size shot of nitrous. There are 2 company's plugs I really like. NGK - One of the big plus's to their plugs is the cadmium they plate there plugs with is pretty soft. It makes plug reading easier than an equivalent Autolite or other brand. Also if you nip a plug they might not tear up the cylinder. If you do that on a hard strap plug, it pretty much guarantees engine damage. They are also reasonable enough in price you can buy a few sets to get good reads. Also, I would run a Br6ef plug in every FI/nitrous application in place of the tr6. The tr6 was simply the only plug option when it came out. There are simply better options that are priced the exact same that can be bought at the same places. Brandon@NGK is extremely knowledgeable. I use him as a reference when I start messing with a new platform or I get a wild combination I am unfamiliar with. If anyone would like his direct line let me know. Brisk - High end bad ace plugs. These guys have stepped in a few markets where we could not get other manufactures to do so. They quality on these things is great. They do cost a lot however. Really nice plug especially if you already have your tune dial in. Last edited by Graham@N; 05-23-2011 at 05:52 PM. |
