Cold air intake questions

ive had my 2ss/rs for about 2000 miles now and am looking to add some performance that will not void warranty...ive already decided to wait to buy a catback but am looking into a cold air intake...dealer said depends on what intake because some of them require an oiled filter that can mess with sensors... whats the best cold air intake that doesnt require an oiled filter or any type of tuning that will void the warranty?

Don't know about the oiled/warranty aspect, but I know the airaid CAI is pretty popular if not the only one available right now for the Camaro.

There was a test done on a bunch of different cold air systems about a couple of weeks ago on here. Try searching it. Great comparisons. You can use oiled filters, just don't oil the crap out of it. Let it absorb into the cotton overnight and then install it. Never had problems doing it that way. You can buy a mass air flow cleaner to spray into the MAF sensor if it gets contaminated anyways. I think the Airraid was the better one for what you need. When you add aftermarket parts, you run the risk of voiding warranty. If the oil messes up the MAF and you bring it to the dealer, guess what... no warranty.

If I get one, I think I'll go w/ Cold Air Inductions. Looks like the best gains and fit without having to move stuff around or tune. Anyone know if it needs the aforementioned oiled filter?

Take another look. There are probably 2 dozen available now.

yes, it comes with a filter that needs to be cleaned/re-oiled periodically... just like a K&N filter...

I have the C.A.I. cai in my Monte... and have cleaned/re-oiled the filter a couple times and have had no issues whatsoever with oil getting sucked through to the MAF sensor..

How often do you have to clean/re-oil? If you aren't car savvy should you take it somewhere, or is it something anyone can do? How long does it take? What oil do you use?
