Still, sad to see Chevy thought transforming a Camaro into a CTS-V would be enough. It's still the lazy old GM approach to just go to the parts bin from another car to build something "new".
While your Shelby is in the shop for repairs Fix Or Repair Daily, you are stuck in a subway going back and forth. I can see where that would be more glamorous than driving a ZL1.

This is such biased thinking. Look we have to admit, Ford just one upped us huge!
The worst part is GM is going to respond so whoever gets the 2012/13 ZL1 will get shafted for sure

This is more important then the H.P. numbers. We'll have to see how this plays out in heads-up competition. I might have to wait a year till GM ups the H.P. to 700 or 750 to tame this snake!
you were wishing for a $45k ZL1 and now you are saying $58k but gonna wait another year? It doesn't sound like you really want a ZL1 or can afford one. You are just too wishy washy man.
By the way, your TQ statement is only true when not discussing these two cars because even if the two cars have the same TQ #s, the snake will be a lighter car and it will have the advantage. In this case, the snake has more TQ and lighter. What now?

I think the best thing GM could do is offer warrantied performance upgrades for the ZL1 from GMPP. That way nobody gets shafted.

+1. I suspect many of the people who are saying "OMG 650HP!" have never actually tried applying 650HP to the ground. If you can't use it effectively, why have it at all? It's like having a sword that's too heavy to lift.

Or you know if you don't know how to f@#%ing drive :P, which most of the people driving these cars won't know how to do. The manual ZL1 makes up for this with PTM.

Exactly, and since there's been no word on ZL1 and Canada so unfortunately I'm going to have to go with the next beat thing, which ironically enough comes with an amazing amount of horsepower and it's the torque that people with have trouble with lol

Just to add fuel to the fire, GM has released the starting price for the ZL1, $54.995 and $59,120 fully loaded.

that's a good price point that should undercut the GT500. my issue being that we could see the ZL1/GT500 prices skyrocket to 70+k within a couple of years if this trend continues.

Or the recent jumps by the GT-R. Two years ago it had only 485hp, it jumped to 530hp, and is now getting ready to add another 35 hp or so
you mean the GT500 KR "King of the Road". People paid that not because of the hp but because of the exclusivity of the KR. Just like people are paying for the Shelby GT350 now.
