About square setups being optimal... this may be true for some cars, but only testing will find the best setup, square or not, for any particular car.

The 1LE has a square tire setup and a staggered wheel setup, so let's call it a semi square setup that the handling team found optimal for track work while considerng this will be a daily driver too. JUST RIGHT porridge.

An extreme example of a square setup not being optimal would be the Porsche 911... with a square setup, these cars would back into the weeds around every corner. And of course, as stated above a couple of times, significantly higher power requires more rear grip via bigger tires.

Chevy says the Z28 has the widest front tires on any performance car in the world, and it has wider rear tires to handle the power. Power makes a car faster, grip makes a car faster, balance makes a car faster and more fun.

All you are going to do is introduce more understeer which a stock 1le already has plenty of. Least without increasing the width of the front or going with a larger rear bar. Now talk about pedders 305 square setup, then you will have me agreeing with you.

It's about sidewall stiffness and keeping the tire from moving around on the rim under hard cornering, all of which a tight tire does better with vs a loose tire.

Could GM have used a bigger wheel on the rear of the Z28 and then have stretched the 305/30zr19 tires?

Cody, honestly could the real issue here be that you left Camaro for Mustang?

I think you're bitter. Would you not agree? Don't the Germans have a word for taking pleasure in others' pain? (Schadenfreude) It kind of seems that your motivation is to tell us what a crappy decision we made buying the 1LE and keeping the stock tires and rims. And in wanting to be right you enjoy taking pleasure in others' "loss" - well, your self assumed loss of ours.

If you're not a 1LE driver why are you here complaining about Chevy's setup for the 1LE?

If you're personally more confident than Chevy engineers, either buy a 1SS and "boingo" it to high heaven, you're way, but post those mods in the right forums OR make your Mustang a better track car an ours.

There ARE Camaro drivers in this forum who run 305s on the rear but they have years and years of track experience and they are civil and logical about it. I'm no engineer so I'm not going to tweak this stuff and I'm going to trust Chevy's engineers.
