Yes, but for the few times I have tried it at 2,500 - 3,000 I am getting some hop but not too bad. I am afraid to try 4,000.

I will work on that hop. I have at least some of the solution already, but keeping it mostly stock for now.

The 285/35 has shorter sidewalls that are straighter in the lower sidewall region (down near the bead) that won't flex as much as the 275/40's sidewalls that "belly out" more past the wheel in that region.

You could also think that the sidewalls pinching in more with the 275/40's allows them to give a little more over tiny bumps and pavement roughness, upsetting acceleration traction less.

Sorry about all the edits.

Interesting. That could help explain part of my problem and why these sticky tires will not hook. The other part I think is me.

This is the first time I have seen the wheel hop come up. I thought it was just me.
I can light the tires and they spin real good ( only have done this twice) but when I grab a quick 2nd ( which I have done more than twice ), there is lots of chatter from the rear. I originally thought it was traction control holding things back but once I took the nannies off and still got the chatter. So this is the tires?

Alignment and bushing deflection. Not really the tires but old worn out ones can contribute. Cradle bushes and trailing arm bushings would likely make it go away.

Alignment 9frt and rear) was updated at the dlrship at 5000km. Made sure it was to spec.
So this is a new car, with that being said, are you saying that to get rid of the chatter (or hop) I should upgrade to some aftermarket cradle and trailing arm bushings?
I don't like the hop and would like it gone. Im not always slamming 2nd gear but it would be nice for the few times it happens that the car wouldn't chatter or hop.

Yes those two parts are excellent at removing wheel hop, mine was gone after the cradle bushing replacement. Cradle inserts are cheaper if you never plan on tracking or dragging it.

And a dealership alignment is garbage, they usually have an adjustment range of up to 1 degree and no interest in balancing specs between left and right. A performance spec alignment from a good shop would serve you far better.

Where did you hear this from??

I thought it just limits spark by alternating shutting off coils to keep the rpms steady, should be no loss in power, it just controls where the rpms are held is my understanding.

You don't need DRs to run 12s

I ran 12.991 bone stock on the stock tires.

FYI: there are claims of others 12s stock but nothing posted below in the link???? Get them up there guys!

I do not use the Launch Control

I did not experience any wheel hop when launching and hitting 1.9, 2.0 and 2.1+ 60s

NOW, track prep plays a huge part and I was running on a half ass prepped track that was slippery as anything.....I have not run on a well prepped track yet so I may see different results later??

To use this launch control put the vehicle in sport competitive mode, line up, and floor the peddle and hold it. The vehicle should hit 6k and fall down into place. At that point your ready to pop your clutch and have fun.

Side note I did find that if you let off the gas slightly (don't let it go entirely) you can change from 5k to 4k. Not sure why but once you let off a bit you can put it back to the floor and the RPMs will stay at 4k. Hope this helps and hope I'm not repeating a bunch of other posts though I probably am.

Others with more talent than me like NHRAStocker can run a stock SS TO 12.588 from the LS3 fast list. I will believe the 1LE is faster than a normal SS when someone beats that 12.588 stock.

Anyone here running easy stock tired 12s? I may have missed a post or two.

edit: Doh, a search turned up several stock tired high 12s.
HOPING TO TRY THIS THIS WEEKEND AT THE FEST

Tried it and didn't seam to kick in tires spun over 1-2s and I let off because I don't have money to be replacing them twice a year

The one time I used it the tires spun all of 1st and the majority of 2nd.

The tires were warm-ish.... and the road was completely dry.
