check coolant level
boil t-stat to see it if opens at 180 degrees (if not thats your issue)
check sensor

Im sure its one of those issues. I just went through overheating issues due to air in the cooling system.

i remember bottoming out and smacking my front bumper pretty bad but nothing that would what jumped a foot and half up to hit the tank.
the tank is a bit hidden. still confused.
