500 deductible... for the damage. Probably pay out of pocket. Hope we can find one now... Oh yeah my iPhone got into the laundry somehow also, GREAT weekend.

How long did it take for your dealership to get the windshield shipped to them?

I caught a rock on the windshield right in front of me, so even the glass guy said I would be able to see where the repair was and it might just be better to replace the whole windshield.

I know there's a black plastic something located to the right of the inside rearview mirror. Anyone know how easily it is for the glass guys to remove that from the old and reattach that to the new windshield is?

Let us know how everything looks.

It took exactly 1 week, it happened Saturday the 13th, I called the Dealer Monday the 15th. He called me yesterday said the glass was in. I rode in the back of a Demo pickup holding the windshield, Other salesman followed in my car to Safelite, the were the cheapest to install at 125 even.

That box you talked about is related to the remote start, it was no problem for them to remove and re-install.

Looks good as new... Since GM is the only source of glass right now there is no chance of aftermarket replacement, this is good for originallity, but hard on the wallet.

Yeah, I figure it'll cost enough that insurance will be picking up the tab (minus the deductible), which sucks cause I know they won't be happy about that...

All depends on your deductible, it was not worth having a claim to me since it was only a little more than 500, which is my deductible.

Well, the windshield is at the dealership, I need to give them a call and figure out when to drop off the car. They're giving me a free loaner car while they have the 'maro, which is cool.

I was just hoping they'd have everything else ready (like ground effects, etc.) at the same time so they could just keep the car for a week and get everything done.

I'll probably call them later today and let y'all know what the deal is.

Edit: Coop, when I know all the details, I'll post everything here

Dropped it off on Monday (6/29) with Troy and they got the windshield installed on Tuesday (6/30). Troy called me and told me it was ready, and I asked if they had also tinted the windows and installed the LoJack. They didn't know they were supposed to do that too, so on Wednesday (7/1) Troy calls and told me the window tint was done, but I got a second call from a different guy (Rod) trying to set up a time to drop off the car to get the LoJack installed. You can imagine I was a bit baffled, considering my car was sitting there in their service department when he called. So I called Troy and told him Rod called about the LoJack, so he said he would go find him and get everything figured out. So, I call Troy back and he said they would get the LoJack installed on Thursday (7/2) and it would be ready for me. So, Troy called me yesterday right around lunchtime to let me know everything was done (finally) and I told him I would try to get there by 6pm, since I work 'til 5. I dropped off the rental car from Enterprise (which Freedom Chevrolet paid for, minus the optional $15/day insurance) and Enterprise dropped me off at the dealership.

After all was said and done, the tint looks great, I have no idea where the LoJack unit is in the car, and the guys that installed the windshield did an excellent job and it looks brand new again. The total came out to just over $800 when you include the cost of the rental car, so it wasn't too bad. My deductible for insurance is $500, so I'll be reimbursed a little over $300 from them.

Moral of the story: if you see an 18-wheeler, get off the freeway
