Nail in my Tire - Purchased Road hazard

So, when I bought my Z, I also purchased an additional warranty that covered lost keys, tire repair/replace, Wheel repair/replace, paintless dent repair, windshield repair.

Well, the other day I noticed a nail in my front tire. It's about 1 maybe 2" from the side. Obviously I want this replaced, but I also know that it CAN be fixed and hold air. I'm concerned the warranty company is going to try and fix this instead of replace the tire. Anyone else purchased this warranty and needed a new tire? Please share your experience.

Ask the warranty company if they want to be responsible for a tire failure at 150mph.

I purchased a similar plan from my dealership for wheels and tires. The service department said these tires are not allowed to be repaired, they must be replaced regardless of where the puncture is located. If your service department disagrees, I would talk with Michelin to see if they have guidance that you can pass along to your service department.

Not sure what Michelin is going to do since OEM is GY F1.

I have the same warranty on tires and wheels. Got a bolt in the left rear, and warranty would only repair and not replace. The repair more than held up for better than 10K miles before I replaced all four.

Yea, I was planning on using this line of thinking.

I don't think I like this, therefore I deem it unsatisfactory and irrelevant.

Go to a dealership for this if possible. They would have to be stupid to repair the tire and more than likely they will order a replacement due to safety. Please do not let ANYONE just repair it as you will be compromising the structural rigidity of the tire. At 100+MPH you don't want to find out if the repair was strong enough.

I have already gone thru this and my local dealer just replaced the tire.

A PUNCTURE COMPROMISES THE SPEED RATING LIKE RETRO69 SAID. THE TIRE SHOULD BE REPLACED. I WOULD READ THE WARRANTY PAPERS VERY CAREFULLY.

Cars at the dealer, for that and some additional items. I called the warranty company, and they actually told me to bring it to the dealer, and they would go through warranty to fix/replace depending on what they deem necessary. I spoke to the service dude, and told him I track the car, so high speeds are of concern to me on a repaired tire. He said he'd do what he can. I'm just checking to see if anyone else has had any experience with this warranty and if I should arm myself.

Thanks for the replies.

Careful what you tell them, there is an exclusion for competitive driving, racing and off road ...

Mistype. Reading another thread about winter tires...

The point was that these tires are not safe to repair based on speed rating. I think run flats in general aren't repairable. I'd get the manufacturer's guidance as back up to be safe.

The OEM GY's on a ZL1 are not run flates.
