L99 3-4 Shift

Has anyone with a tune noticed that the 3-4 shift is significantly weaker/slower than all others, including 4-5 and 5-6? I am being picky because it is still better than stock, but it sucks compared to the rest.

Haven't noticed.. when you had your tune, was the shifting tweaked at all?

My tune is very aggressive. 200 Psi and minimal times under adaptive learning. The 3-4 shift is simply weak compared to the rest. My shift points are set to 5900-6000. I think the tranny is mechanically not able to match the rest of the shifts. I get scratches 1-3 and then 3-4 falls way short.

Just told my tuner the EXACT same thing

I thought it was just mine. It is not that bad but I can definitely feel the difference at the track.

I honestly think it is an internal issue on how the 3-4 shift takes place. Maybe transgo will have a quick spring fix for it. I know they do not have a kit for this tranny yet, but they are working on one. From the attachment I would assume the 4-5-6 clutch pack assembly is the weak link.

What are your mods? I think I am simply over-powering the tranny like jamesfl.

Yeah my 3-4 is weak too. My 1-2 and 2-3 are great. My 4-3 downshift scares the bejesus out of me.

Car has a yank 3600 too.

Only 3 runs so far on the converter, took a ten off but I was only pushing 5.5 psi so it was probably 2 10ths. Now I have 8.5 psi, meth injection and 16 lbs drag rims with M&H tires on order. I should be out again in about 2 weeks.

Have you been able to log your downshifts. Hopefully your not flaring the tranny. A flare, especially on downshift, could kill a tranny fast.

Flare is when the transmission slips just before shifting. If you watch your tach, you'll see your rpm's increase suddenly just before the shift occurs. The best way to check for this is with a data log.

look it up I just installed one from Innovate, logs upto 8 parameters to a sd mem card. I have it with a wideband sensor and MAP sensor plus everything you get from the OBD2 connection(50 params).
