No they were 2 door, Luminas were available as 2 doors and 4 doors but the Taurus was only available as a 4 door. Chevy used the 2 door Lumina.

Looked it up and you were right. The Taurus was first. They were racing the Luminas a year before they were available to the consumers. The first Luminas were all 4 doors with the 2 door coming 7 to 8 months later. Good debate!

I'm amazed that it actually looks like a Camaro, though that hood scoop will be painted on. I'd love to see Toyota try to make one that looks like a 86. Be pretty hard to do!
Btw, I think this pretty much seals the fate of the Chevy SS. I bet once they're gone the value will skyrocket.

The SS is already out of production, that is why they needed to go to a different car for Nascar Cup racing.
Take a look again at the hood pictures. The hood has the shape of the ZL1 hood, just not as pronounced, not paint or decals.

Now we need them to quit all the repeats at the same tracks and add some road courses.

COTA,VIR Laguna Seca, Sebring, Mid Ohio, Mosport,Road America, and the one in Salt Lake would be good for starters

Not true - Chevrolet, Ford, & Toyota all have the same common template for the roof line, front & rear windshield slope, & rear deck lid. NASCAR has allowed teams to use a front bumper, hood, & rear bumper that more resembles stock parts.

Yes I remember the Taurus being the 1st 4-door in Nascar.

Correct, plus they now allow some of the side features to be incorporated. Again just not as deep or sharp as the production cars in most cases. The area on the rear quarters behind the tire is supposed to be common though.

Harder to see with the decals on and that angle, but the bodylines are there. Maybe you can see it better on JJ’s car
