V6 Brake Swap Help

Doing a v6 brake swap on the rear of my 2010 ss. Am I missing anything?

I have ordered:
V6 calipers
V6 backing plates
V6 rotors

I plan to order stainless lines, do I need brake lines designed for the v6 cars or for a SS?

Do I need anything else to keep the e-brake functional?

Thanks!

Why would you need SS lines?

Give Rodney or Matt @ FSP a call in the morning. They have done a ton of these.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my next

Just upgrading to slotted rotors and stainless lines front and rear while I swap the rear brakes. Wasn't sure if I needed to buy them for the v6 cars SS car.

I know on the v6 if you want to upgrade to the brembos you need the calipers, rotors and brake lines. Not 100% sure if you would need the v6 lines when going to the v6 brakes from the brembos but i would think so.

OK, wait a minute. If you are going to the V6 Brakes in the rear I am guessing you are doing it to fit smaller diameter rims so you can fit larger tires for drag racing, right? I mean there isn't any other reason to do it. So if that is the case why are you spending money on slotted rotors and stainless steel lines? People only need those if the needs to keep their pads/rotors cooler and lines from flexing when they Autox/HPDE. You would save some money by just using stock rotors/lines that you could put towards rims/tires which are expensive enough.

The SS and V6 calipers do require different lines. I do agree with TBone though; the money spent on upgraded lines and rotors could go toward other things.

Best regards,

Good point fellas. Even though the car is getting a drag wheels, it'll still get driven regurally and is mainly a street car, so that was my reason for wanting to upgrade.

I picked up a set of lightly used v6 rotors which should be here Friday. I'll see how it does with the stock parts, and upgrade later if need be.

Thanks!!

Sure. You should be fine with them as long as you remember that you now have V6 brakes. No amount of slotting or drilling to the rotors will make up for the SS calipers. But hey, the V6 guys seem to do OK with them so you should be alright.

Besides, more room for smaller rims, bigger tires, right? Like 'dis...

Any idea how much weight you saved vs brembos with the ebay brakes? Did you get lines also?
