Hurst shifter on v6
Is the Hurst short throw shifter available to order for the v6 anymore? Do you guy's think it would be kind of lame since it is just a v6?

Get the short throw. These cars work well with the shorter throw shifters. Just do some home work first. I'm kinda byes and think the Barton is better bang for the $$$. But that's me. There are a ton of threads on this. REALY my two cents ..... Hurst or Barton

Don't think it was ever available from the factory.

If you mean the Billet/Plus 2 from Hurst directly than yes. GM has never offered the factory version for the V6. I have one in my SS and love it. If you're getting a manual I'd definitely recommend it.

I thought the factory Hurst was available with the V6. If so I would get that over the aftermarket billet unit.
The factory has a reduced throw between gears, but not as great a reduction as the aftermarket Hurst. The V6 manual tranny is notchy and the efort to shift goes up the more you reduce the distance between gears. I have the aftermarket Hurst (when I bought my car the factory Hurst was not available on either model), and a shortened shift throw is a must have IMHO. But if I had it to do over again-and the factory Hurst is not available on the V6, I would go with one of the other well recommended shifters available. |
