Nano skin help please..
Hey guys. I have a 2013 and there are some contaminants and things in the paint I would like to remove before using a sealant/wax. There is a nanaskin fine and medium grade and I am not sure which one to use? Also, it says to dilute it 7:1. Not really sure how to measure that out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Agree.
Without feeling the car under a baggie there no way to be absolutely sure but if it's a 2013, chances are fine is what you need.

I see a 6" pad and also a nanoskin wash mitt and some other products used to "clay" a car. Which one would be best for doing it by hand? Also seems to be a nanoskin towel? Getting more confused now ha

towel fine grade. Break it in by using it on your exterior glass prior to using it on the paint. Invest in some ONR for your lube.

I went ahead and got the 6" pad. It has a strap for my hand. Got the lube too.. THanks for the advice about using it on the windows first!

As far diluting the lube, you just have to measure it so that 1 part of solution goes into 7 parts of water. If you have a 32-ounce spray bottle, 4 ounces of solution and 28 ounces of product is a popular combination.

It's not rocket science though. If you're a little more or less concentrated, it isn't going to be an issue. When eyeing it, I tend to lean towards the more concentrated side. You can't be TOO concentrated, when it comes to clay lube. You can use it straight out of the bottle if you want. Diluting it makes it last considerably longer. Any detail spray will do the exact same thing.

Ok so after thinking about it. I'm going to buy a buffer. My arm will fall off after using the nano skin and sealant. Anyone have a recommendation? Cheap! Also.. Are they user friendly? I'm afraid I will wash my car and there will be some grime that might scratch the paint while using the nano. Can someone give me some pointers?

I'm still using my Porter Cable 7424XP and haven't ever found myself needing anything more powerful.

Get the Fine version. I got the CarPro PolyShave Decon pad, which is basically just the generic version of the Elastrofoam pad and costs around a third of the price. Unfortunately, it was medium grade. There's still some spots on my paint where I haven't fully buffed out the marring left by that thing. It worked wonders and made the paint feel smooth, but man did it mar it up.
There's no need for anything stronger than the "Fine" version if you keep up with your car. |
