With the thin clear GM puts on their cars/trucks now, I wonder if it would help the chip problem to apply clear to a new Camaro??? Cost for such with a pro?

Not likely as the reason for the chips is the water-based stuff they have to use in paints thanks to the EPA. Additional clear will not help. And you'd be looking at 2-4k in cost to do it.

We can clear and color sand to 3000 grit and polish to a ultra flat shine (by flat I mean smooth) so you can read a street sign with no distortion for $1500-$2k. Add custom stripes at the same time (continuing under the hood to match) for $500 more if thats what your looking for.

Optimum's new "Opti-Coat 2" is a coating - not a sealant. It lays down a resin coat that is harder and thicker than factory clear coat. It resists scratches and its PERMANENT.

Its a product that is changing the detailing world....check it out and judge for yourself. It applies like a sealant. Up to this point, it was only available to professionals, but now the version 2 product is available to the general public. Its about $60. I've seen and used it.

Incredible, incredible product. Optimum is headed by Dr. David Goudousi, who worked with car manufactures deveopling clear coat for many of the cars on the road today. HE KNOWS clearcoat...and he knows how to PROTECT it.
