i love those lights blacked out, even if that's all you did in that area. of course i like my blackouts the best. they seem to be much darker than some of the tinted ones and there are no logo's on them, yet when the lights are on they're still bright enough to be safe.

I think it is a major traffic hazard to have them over your taillights.. I almost rear ended a car in broad daylight because they obscured the brake lights..Also had their CHMSL light tinted.. It iS illegal to use them on the street...

that's why it has to be done right. it is possible to have them dark enough to be "blacked out" yet still light enough to produce an easily-visible warning

or you could just get some LED lights in a black housing like me

(the next thing y'all should ask Justin @ AAC to make)

Mine are dark. I've been told they may not pass inspection. My painters said they were totally legal and they do it all the time. They seem plenty bright in day time as far as I can tell.

If you almost rear end someone in broad day light I think you have a bigger problem than blacked out lights - depth perception or pay attention.

In the day I dont even rely on someone's brake lights to tell me they are getting too close. Just look, if they are closer to you now than they were a couple hundred miliseconds ago, brake. What if the guy's brake lights are out then what ?

Back to the topic. I think black outs are perfectly fine and look great.

By the way I WAS paying attention that is why I DIDN"t rear end them, YOU don't know the traffic situation or the lighting situation so don't judge my driving...

I just read the law. it states: "Brakelights must be visible 300 feet away in daylight, and 1000 feet at night" Thats a football field away in daytime and over 3 football fields away at night. The car I was behind you could barely see the lights from 25 feet away.

At the very least you should check your local laws before tinting or covering ANY light....

I will do them. Anyone arguing that they are a hazard must have forgotten how many drivers never use blinkers. If you cab see them, which you can when doing this, then they are a good style option.
