Borla ATAK

I just installed my Borla ATAK catback exhaust and I love it! The sound is awesome but not too bad when cruising. The only thing is on startup and when decelerating there is popping noises like backfire. It's pretty noticeable and kind of annoying. I called Borla and they said that it should slowly go away when it breaks in more. Has anyone else had this problem before? This is my first experience with Borla, but I have never had this problem before with other exhausts. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Oh, and I will try post video clip later this week.

I love that popping sound! I just ordered the atak on Friday to install with my longtubes so hopefully that will even amplify the popping! Scares people.

Has nothing to do with Borla... decel pop is normal w/ these cars... you just hear it now.

I have the atak now with the stock manifolds. When you get your exhaust installed please tell us how loud it is, I'm thinking of getting some headers also.

I did the same thing... installed Borla's ATAK a few months ago and loved the sound. Right before Thanksgiving I added LG Motorsports long tube headers to complete the exhaust. You should definitely spring for headers, you'll be glad you did. It is loud, and the combination of ATAK mufflers with headers makes the car finally sound as mean as it looks. I'm turning heads everywhere I go. Headers are a must if you really want to wake up your Camaro. And, just my 2-cents, but I've been extremely pleased with the LG/Borla combination.

I've had my ATAK for a few months now, the deceleration popping seems to have tapered off a bit compared to when I first installed it. I'm sure it has something to do with that layer of carbon that forms over time. Either that or I've just gotten used to it.

That is what was on the car? Had no clue...sounded nice under cruise during the tune.

I've got the same on SS A6. The only time it pops is at first start up with remote start.
Not sure why..... but it does.

Mine pops a lot at decel, also very raspy which is what I like.

I have LT headers on it though.

Just installed my ATAK last week and it pops BAD on deceleration(very loud and annoying), not really on start up. I was told it's either running too rich or too lean and that a tune should help work I out along with time. BUT mine might be worse because I had my car Street and Dyno tuned with a CAI and the stock exhaust a few weeks ago (I know, bad idea since it now has to be re-dyno tuned with the exhaust! My first muscle car) luckily my friend tunes my car and this time I only have to pay the $60 dyno time.

P.S. If you stay in 6th coasting to lights it cuts down if not eliminates the popping. Or if you push the clutch in and coast into lights it cuts the popping completely.
