Sounds like a mustang is a better fit for you.

Every car is going to need drivetrain modifications if you are planning to double to the horsepower. If you are only shooting for 700hp, that wont even come close to compromising a 9" IRS durability. The 5.0 doesnt come stock with a 9", so there is potential to break at some point. I heard the trannies in those are a weak link. So if you are into racing, decide if you want to buy a diff, or a tranny. Or buy an old 4th gen Camaro and build the hell out of it for 1/4 the price of a 5th gen.

I dont want a mustang. Ive had a dozen of them. I want an ss camaro and I want to add a solid 12 bolt rear end with limitied slip 33-35 spline axles with a torsion bar rear suspension. I have a 12 bolt ls in my garage. It only needs cut to fit and axles for what I want. Just need to get the suspension setup to complete the deal. I dont need a 9" rear for 1500hp.

Actually the Ford 8.8 is plenty strong, and the factory mustang trannys are strong too. No real issues with the ford drivetrain.
If you think you can swap in a solid yourself cheaper, go for it. The moser setup is actually a great deal.

The copos tie in the cage to the front support bar for the rear axle where the rear seat would go.

1le suspension bits would be a waste either way if it is going solid axle. Best bet would be find a cheap used car, possibly even a v6 and go from there.

Sorry guys I think im confused on suspension parts. 1le is probably wrong I was talking the ss with the black hoods from the factory. They supposed to have better irs parts I believe than the standard ss rears.
I want an ss not a v6. I am just trying to make the stock irs last a little while vs my clutch dumping banging gears driving style. Till I can get the car swapped to a solid axle. |

Theres more to a 1le than the parts you're talking about. Sways, tires, wheels, struts, trans gearing, diff gear, and yes the axles are a bit better than an SS.
But they won't cut it for crazy and constant clutch dumps, any wheel hop and something will break. The diff and posi itself are also not any stronger. The 1LE has much taller trans gearing, especially in 1st/2nd, which make it a slug off the line and tougher to launch well compared to an SS if drags is your goal. Better off with an SS and adding 3.91 gears if you want. You'll cross the lights at the top of 3rd in a 1LE. Its a road racing/handling package not a drag beneficial package. |

Turbos love lower gears vs higher numeric gearing. Good info about it all for sure. Thank you.
