Dirt in Paint

Ok I have hand washed and waxed this car since May, now on both front fenders in different spots I have a black dirt mark. Looks like small black dot. Getting out the magnifing glass you can see that is dirt that was in the paint and now the paint and clear coat have popped away just leaving a small identation and the dirt mark.

It was cooler down here the last week and wonder if the metal getting cold caused them to pop out. Very frustrating and I have no idea what GM will do about it.

Anybody else seeing this?

Scott,

I have a "speck" on my RJT that I wonder about - I can't tell what it is though. It's not too cold in Oklahoma yet, so nothing has popped out. I do have an indention in the clear coat though unrelated to the speck - it was there on delivery. The paint shop said it was due to "trash" in the clear coat. I suppose that's a paint shop term for any dirt or debris that gets in there. They told me they could buff it out. I haven't done it yet.

But the "speck" is definately under the clear coat. It's in a bad spot too if it "pops" out. I am a little dissapointed in the "quality" of the paint. Maybe I'm too picky? Maybe I paid so much I was expecting flawless?

I hope GM does do something for you. I'd guess there are several of us out here with debris and flaws in our paint.

talk to your salesman, take it to the dealer, it should be covered.

I have had mine in three times for "experts" to evaluate the rough paint and two spots on my front fender, the orange peel is the same as when I bought it so I was told "you shouldn't have taken delivery" HA! there goes the
R6P I am so proud of! It will be a battle but I may get my laywer involved since the preorder process should protect me to keep my original VIN. all I know is it's always a big problem to collect warranty on paint unless it is a class action situation, like in the 80's when almost all white GM vehicles lost the paint.

Good luck!!

They will use the term "You shouldn't have taken delivery" quite often. I've heard it from GM Customer Care specialists, local dealer Service Managers, etc.

Apparently I'm supposed to know whether or not there is paint embedded into the clear coat prior to purchase. Whatever.

I have a little thing on my passenger door. It's too small to have ever noticed during delivery. I didn't notice til I was waxing it. Mine is no big deal but it hasn't fallen off or anything.

some compound on it and buffed it out..This was 7/4/09...Since then I have
noticed more coming up here and there...Geuss I'll take it back.

Have found a few "debris" spots in mine under the clear coat. Guess I should have taken in when I found them but didn't want dealer to mess up and make them more visable. Found mine during 1st wax in July.

Small foreign matter spec- drivers side rear quarter panel area- but on the top side. Noticeable.

Nothing throughout the whole paint job though. Just this one spot.

I have debris all up in my paint. But at this point what do you do? I bugs me but I try to show others and they just roll their eyes. So unless It starts busting through like Scott's I'll just let it be..
