A word about Spy-cars (headlights!)

I got this from an article on topspeed.com talking about the new Vauxhall Insignia (Saturn Aura) where the engineers were talking about disquise/spy photogs and the like. Heres an exerpt on something we have been disgussing so much! link after---

Headlamps and rear lights are especially difficult to disguise as vehicle licensing authorities stipulate that a car’s – even a prototype’s – cone of light, brake lights and all other exterior functions must meet legal regulations. Unfortunately, headlamps and rear lights are a popular means for designers to make the cars’ brand easily recognizable, and therefore must be well disguised. To do this, camouflage experts fit simple, round lights from an accessories shop to the rear of the car, and make special components for the headlamps.

There is no point to having camo on the Camaro, its the same car that everyone has seen at autoshows and in transformers. They have nothing to hide.

That is a good explanation for the Headlights on the Camaro Prototypes.

Thanks

makes sense. The engineer said the headlight assembly on the test cars were hand made for the test drives and that they wouldn't look like that in final production.

I do get the feeling it's abit over exposed, it makes the normal 3 year development cycle seem like 5.

Wow, that's brutal. I'd hate to be a mustang pulling up next to your Camaro!

Though I do think making new people registering click on a box saying they understand the current spy headlights are not the production headlights would be cool and funny.

We should agree upon some ground rules for joining the site, including that all new members may be temporarily kicked from the site if they ask a headlight, grill, or release date question.

I said it in another thread, and I'll apply it here:

Anyone who asks about the headlights is a terrorist.
