Gas went up 8 cents per gallon over night... My SUV gets horrible mileage, so I'm now debating whether to start using Ladybug as my DD. Obviously, I'll have to wait until the threat of snow is gone (it's predicted for this weekend... ugh.), but I'm seriously considering it.
With prices as they are today, taking the SUV to work costs me $10.45 per day, and Ladybug would be $9.10. Also, I get free oil changes for Ladybug. BUT.... Knowing how the idiots park at my workplace, I'm thinking peace of mind is worth $1.35 a day...
Opinions???

Going to show that to a club member that owns a Volt.

No way. Protecting LB for 1.35/day is a reasonable expense. Don't wanna be penny-wise and pound-foolish - especially with those other SUV drivers you have to contend with.

My opinion is.........don't do it. Big risk, as you also probably make other stops on the way to and from work.......people are jerks!

I watched the news here the other night..... they're predicting $5.00 per gallon by summer. Yikes!! Till at least the threat of snow is gone, and there continue to be idiots on the road and in your parking lot, I'd stick with the SUV. Ladybug is too precious to risk for $1.35 per day. Lightning is in the garage and I've taken all but theft and vandalism insurance off for now.

I saw a reporter on the news standing in front of a Shell station in SoCal, and the price on the sign behind him said $4.93 for regular. YIKES is right! There is a safer lot at work, I could take her a few days a week when the weather is better. We'll see...

The prize is a week long, GET-OUT-OF-JAIL-FREE-CARD if she gets stopped by for doing -- not that any of us would ever do anything illegal or dangerous, of course! C'mon, we're Ol' Farts, after all...

Is that cool, or what?

MODS: Please note, this is not a discussion of any political group or of politics.

I suspect, like so much in the "news," that this is an invented ruse (see: surreptitious paid political announcement) to deflect voter attenton from the real issues like jobs, the economy and healthcare; just like the invented nonsense discussions of contraception, sex, who can have it, when they can have and why they can have it..... just makes me wish people would wake up and realize they're being "played."

It's all .

(This is not to say that gas prices aren't going up... the greedy'll line their pockets the best they can and the consuming public will be placated with 4.50/gallon saying "I'm so glad it's not 5 bucks a gallon..")

"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain...."

Yes Dorothy, there are very bad people who should be ashamed of themselves....
