Unhappy How did this happen/Best way to fix this?

I noticed that right next to my driver-side window is a bunch of little scratches. It looks like either someone clawed at it or someone took a brush and just rubbed it in that one spot. The rest of the car is fine so I can't understand how that one spot has some scratches. It isn't suuuuuper obvious and it's only most noticible depending the angle of the lighting. This made it hard to take photos but I did my best using my body as a shadow to be able to see it. I took two up close ones to see the scratches, and one distant one so you can see where I am talking about on the car (i circled the area). Thanks in advance for any thoughts/suggestions.

At first I thought of a cat or raccoon because I have seen raccoon foot prints on my black stripes once (never since that one time), but that's the most awkward spot for the car to get scratched. I figured a raccoon, cat, or any animal for that matter would have used its claws to try to climb to such a high spot on the car and would have at least scratch another part of the car, but I looked thoroughly and did not find a scratch anywhere else... plus, it looks like they just clawed at that one spot. Only other thought that seems logical would be that a cat jumped there and scratched that one spot because it was trying to claw at a bug/butterfly or something.

Any ideas on how to fix it, or make it a little less obvious?

3m scratch repair (bought it on amazon for 8.99) worked well on the cat scratches similar to that I had on my trunk...took 2 or 3 passes but only takes about 10mins per and they are barely visable now so worth my money.

Tones, try some Meguiar's Scratch X numerious times and it might get these scratches out. A detail man with a buffer might do the job let him polish the car. It is hard to tell with these pictures.

I think some neighbors kids did it!

My father got me to use a product called Color Magic on some of scratches people put on my car. Worked out on all of the keys except one which i am persistently working on.

Try mirror glase first, it's not so aggressive and will not full the area.

Those will all wax out just rub till they are all gone. Don't use any compound if you don't need to

thank you all for your suggestions. for the different products that you used, does the area you applied it to look any different (coloring or finish) than the rest of the car?

Stop messing around with as seen on TV crap, go to the car cleaning forums, or youtube and watch the junkman's videos he addresses this very issue (as well as others). Adams polishes help as well. Anyhow check them both out, good luck, that should clean up nice.

Scratch X is safe for clear coats an shows no differece on my 2 black cars. Take the car by a detail shop let him advise you. I had some light scratches that he polished out. The guy polished the car for $50 you can wax the car behind his work. Check for the best detail shop, ask a used car sales company. These guys are good they have polished out spots of bird poop acid. This is your best possible answer....I think!

I'm just wondering if it's someone you park next to using that 'ledge' below the scratches to put something on as they get out of their car and it's causing the scratches.

I have a co worker, that no matter who's car he's getting out of always puts his drinks cup on top of their car, hence me never offering to drive at lunch.

Maybe that's how the scratches got there, from someone else putting something on your car as they get out of their car? Just a thought.
