Those guys love their GT500s. That is cool. There is nothing wrong with the things they do here and would be accepted in many car forums. We are not like other car based forums. The Ford guys don't understand the feel, the tone of C5 or the way it is moderated. They get warned or banned and think it is only because they are Ford fans on a Chevy site. They don't see the warnings and bans handed out for similar tone between C5 owners. They haven't been to a C5FEST and don't understand what we do here.

They don't know Scott. They don't know what Scott means to the Camaro at GM or to Camaro owners and fans. If they walked through Tom's Build Thread and saw how much Chevrolet and GM are so much a part of who is is, they would still not love him as we do. Scott is a dyed in the wool down to the bone Chevy guy so how could they? GM has a Farley Award they handout and it isn't a badge of honor.

I miss having the PILL around here. I know he pressed a lot of buttons, but he kept me on my toes. He is a very smart, very savvy hardcore car guy. That isn't necessarily welcome on C5.

The truth is that there are fewer founding C5 members and newer members in the core group that makes C5 unique than you would think. The same is true with the moderators here on C5. There is a core of moderators that make C5 what it is. There are obviously hardcore Camaro guys here too. I don't think that is what makes C5. On C5 we have a social community with cars and car guys wrapped around the community, not around the car. We come here for the Camaro, but we stay for the people we become friends with.

That makes us a closed community to outsiders. We welcome new people to Shno's House, but only if they agree to follow our House rules. Those that break the House rules are coached to help them find their way in the House or out of it and that includes C5 members. In some respects we are living in a Dream House. Has anyone ever been rude to you in Shno's House? Ever?

I went over to SVT today. No one is talking about fruit cakes. SVT is a good fit for their membership. Maybe if I spent more time there I would feel at home as I do here. Maybe not. The two 'houses' are different styles. They like their house their way. I understand why. I like this House this way. I think most of you do too. I feel at home here with my Shno's House friends. If GM closed the doors tomorrow I would still come over to hang in the House. I think a lot of you would do the same because it is more than a Camaro forum. It is our online home. Right or wrong, we like it the way we like it.

I would prefer we go back to the fruit cake. Who would like a slice?

Who has the coffee?

As for interlopers in the HouZe, there was that lil "one night stand" with svt's 01LightningGal (tooslow, here, Extreme 4X4 at gmi) surrounding Post 10,000, but that got handled astutely...

On this site, and particularly in the Z28 Section, too often (rightly?) we are accused of moderating and tempering discussions through the "six old guys". And for the most part we try to be welcoming and inclusive while suggesting a "home study course" for those bringing up topics 'n tidbits we feel we've beat to death over time. However, patience and restraint are almost always good qualities to exercise, and share...

Elsewhere, surrounded by much different fencelines that offer considerable leeway, the "old farts" are often replaced with "young guns" who, by their very youth and nature, can be extremely aggressive...in language and gang mentality. "School-yard" (Middle school?) comes to mind... And I'm sure if Jamal was present, and mugged, thermal-nuclear war would ensue...

Apples 'n oranges...or fruit cake vs. coffee cake.

As for the HouZe thread itself...brilliant! Reminds me of "Cheers!" A welcome oasis in a desert filled with scorpions, rattlers...and unkind thirst...

Pass the Bailey's, please...

So you got me thinking...

#3 is an OG?
Shno is a YG?
#2.99 is a FC?

And that makes me?

Pete, in High School, I had an after-school job from Grade 9 - on, which meant, although I could punt a ball 50 yards + and place-kick well and accurately, I didn't play football...

So, my "letters" on the shoulders of my school jacket, then as now, were my football position...L. O. ...

Left Out...

Left Out... reminds me of many things. I lied about my age and started working part-time when I was 12. My Dad worked two jobs so school and a part-time job seemed normal.

All in the Family had us rolling on the floor in 1971. There is one scene that stayed with me. Archie telling his son-in-law about his nickname ShoeBooty and about fathers. While most of the country was laughing at Archie, I always looked at him differently. No matter what his political views were, he loved his family and did his best for them. I resented people laughing at what I saw as Blue Collar Character.

We need more Blue Collar Character.

Left Out... I don't think so
