From my uneducated perspective, the wheel/tire combo on the Z/28 is one of the biggest advantages it has over the ZL1 based on the recent video. I understand weight, multi-matic suspension, and CCB also are huge in the equation as well. BUT, as a ZL1 owner, I don't want to strip my car of the creature comforts, remove the MRC, or put $15K+ into CBB so that leaves me with the wheels/tires which I absolutely love.

Which leads me to this...I know they may stick out a little bit beyond the fenders without the extensions that are on the Z/28, but will they work otherwise? Will they fit over the BREMBO calibers and will I have in well rub on tight turns?

They will stick out over 1 inch (20mm/23mm) at all 4 corners...Without the fender flares this will look odd, will mess with your aerodynamics (4 tires sticking out dragging in the wind) and the car will have less ground clearance.

Z/28
19 x 11 ET11
19 x 11.5 ET 26

ZL1
20 x 10 ET23
20 x 11 ET43

Your gearing will be off and your car will also sit lower.

305/30/19 = 26.2 OD
285/35/20 = 27.85 OD
305/35/20 = 28.40 OD

It will sit .825" lower in the front and 1.1" lower in the rear.

Will I be using this set-up for track events? YES!

There will be Aftermarket wheels available I'm sure.
Fitment won't be an issue then.

The ZL1 fronts are 20x10 +23, you are correct about the rears 20x11 +43.

Has anybody tried fitting a 305 width front tire on these cars? For the ZL1 or 1LE with the 10" wide front wheels, how much room remains inboard once you've maxed out negative camber?

Look around in JusticePete's posts - I think 305's are what the Pedders car was running in the Optima events before we heard that's what the Z/28 was going to be getting. I don't think the wheels were as narrow as 10.0 either.

Maybe try the Suspension/chassis/brakes and Camaro Motorsports sections.

gearing wont be a big deal,that can be tuned for the speed-o, just have more low end,lol

I would think one of the biggest advantages of the Z/28 is it's brakes. The fresh air box is a plus also. Those two things done to a ZL1 would really help close the gap on a race track.

I am really thinking of getting a set for my 1LE. The drag is not that important at the low speeds we see at tracks for 95% of time. However the reduction in unsprung rotational mass is NUTS and outweighs the drag issue if you ask me. With 2deg of camber they will tuck in nice.

I will be honest though....., and probably get flamed..... I will still stay 285 or 295 on the tires. 305 is not necessary if you ask me, I rather take some more weight out and not destroy the steering feel in the street.
