Couldn't remove oil filter
Changed the oil yesterday and the oil filter would not budge. The dealer did the last oil change and must of cranked it on. I first tried this
But that striped the bottom of the filter. Then I tried this and that started to bend the filter because I couldn't get the band closer to the base of the filter because the handle was too big. I kept trying, going really slow (trying not to rip it open), it finally broke loose. Damn dealer !! Is there a better tool to use to remove stuck oil filters (besides sticking a screw driver right through lol) ?

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Bought the same tool, same result as you.
I had to mangle the old filter to remove it. With a screwdriver.

Heck, in the old days we'd just get a big screwdriver, drive it right through the oil filter and then use it as a t-wrench to remove stubborn filters.

I think the metal was thicker then. I did that and this thing was beer can thin. I ended up tearing most of the metal with the screwdriver stab. The other thing is clearance is an issue as the filter is recessed in there.

Sucks. Should only be slightly more than hand tight anyway. I have had luck with stubborn ones by using an oil filter wrench near the base of the filter if you can get to it. Other than that, mangle away is about your only other option...
My V6 has a cartridge type filter that I like as it's easy to get to up top and easy to replace.

Same thing happened to me last month, I used a 6" screw driver. It worked.

You really need a different oil filter strap wrench; mine has a swivel handle that swings down for clearance ... when the strap is positioned so it is near the filter base plate it will not deform the filter canister when turned. All my vehicles have tight clearance around the filter base and this type swivel handle works great (the red part of the handle swivels 90 degrees up or down).

Using that band clamp near the end of the filter you can keep some pressure on it with one hand and tap the handle with a hammer. The impacts will cause a vibration which can cause the parts to loosen.
