I'm from Chicago area. Don't want to name any businesses specifically but I called a bunch of places and I get no answer (most shops around here). I got one place that is an exotic car tuner (so they said) and they wanted to try a camaro for the first time. I told them no right away. I got a hold of a very reputable tuner on these forums, but they told me they don't tune 6s. :/. Then I got a hold of this one, who tunes 6s, has done camaros before, and have seemingly been in business a while. But they told me they use LS edit. If anyone from Chicago would chime in that'd be great!
As for email tunes, not sure I feel confident doing that myself. I've been willing to give in to everything I've done on the car so far, but when it comes to computers, there's no way I trust myself. I can barely get my home computer to work right half the time. I wouldn't be comfortable trying to hook my home computer AND my car computer together and get them to work lol.

For the email tune you would buy the handheld and a tuner would send you you the files. You hook the handheld to your computer and upload the tune file(s) to it, then hook the tuner to the car and upload the tune. It isn't much different than uploading content from iTunes. That said, buy a handheld is expensive for just one tune. So, in your case I would find a shop that uses HPTuner or EFI Live and buy two licenses (one for the remote tuner and one for the shop) and let them use their equipment.

LOTS of duramax shops have EFI Live so you can look at performance truck shops. The point is, have someone with experience on the LFX do the tuning (e.g Matt@FSP or Rhino79) and just use the local shop for uploading the tune (and dyno/logging if you want).

Speed Inc. is supposed to be a decent shop. I don't think I've seen where they have tuned an LFX, but again you would get someone else to do the calibration and Speed Inc. can just upload it and log it for you.

Look up Straightline Performance there in Chitown. That's who I would go to up there.

Oh I was under the impression that handheld tuners were a DIY type of deal. Like actually doing the tune yourself. I'm not sure what I was thinking about email tunes lol.
I'll try the other shops again, although, not sure how far out they schedule their appts. I'm going on vacation in a month and wanted to tune after I get back.

You have to INSTALL the tune yourself, but you don't have to DO the tuning.

I bought HP Tuners, and run it off a windows8 Tablet. Download the tune from an email from the tuner, plug the cable into the car and tablet, open the tune, turn the car key to "ON" (But not running), and press go on the HPT software. It takes a little over a minute to write the tune. Done deal.

That doesn't sound too bad. I just found another speed shop from chicaho5thgen.com. I just sent them an email so well see what they say. Otherwise, I'm gonna go the email tune route. I have a MacBook laptop, hopefully everything works fine on that. I know some programs don't like to run on macs lol

None of them like to run on Macs unfortunately.

Ah yea I kinda figured.. That's what I was worried about. My shitty computer skills mixed with self installing some software and throw in the need to correctly install a tune is a recipe for disaster lol. Hopefully this other speed shop comes thru. According to C5G they do IPF tunes, but haven't heard first hand yet.
