Yup they are pricey. I tried junk yards, but none of them wanted to sell it without dashboard :(

Stumbled on a couple of threads having to do with disconnecting center speaker. Had no idea it was something to play with so, thought I’d give it a shot. Went ahead and removed the speaker after disconnecting ( weight savings, ya know). Definitely an improvement.

Strange this thread has been around so long and I never saw it till it was revived. Disconnected center speaker last night, it is an improvement.

For the little time it takes to do it, see for yourself if there’s an improvement. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I did this modification.
At first I was like so so on it sitting in the driveway.
I know that manufacturers tend to mask poor distribution for multiple listeners by adding a summation style center channel.
Its a bandaid.
But sometimes it is effective.

after some back an forth, I decided it was better without it, it definitely got rid of some of the overbright sound.

And now after driving with it this way for a week I feed it is a very good improvement.
Imaging is a lot better, and the balance is better as well making it just a little bright instead of over the top.

Soon I hope to add a decent sub to add some extension to the low end.
Not a boom box just for some really deep notes, I am more of a classic rock, jazz listener.
