Brake seems to be squeaking when i break and when im driving?
I only have 25,000 on the car at this point. The squeaking has been happening since i can remember but not until recently has it started squeaking when im on the highway..
Any advice or recommendations? |

pretty sure im having the same problem, less mileage than you but pretty sure its my passenger rear caliper hanging up and touching even when im not on the brakes. Last thing i want to do is bring it to the stealerhip, usually leave with more problem, damage to the car, or it was caused by your zl1 swars or trailing arms or toe rods, im sure they will blame it on something besides the actual brake being the problem. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem and figured it out?

The squeaking when braking is normal and is because the SS comes with metallic brake pads and need to be bedded every so often. Once the pads have been bedded this squeaking will go away for few months till it needs to be done again.
As for the squeaking while driving, can you describe it? Is it a intermittent sound "squeak. squeak. squeak" which could be a warped rotor or is it one long "ssssqqqquuuueeeaaaakkkkk." which could be a stuck caliper. |

intermittent squeak squeak speeds up and slows as the car does...probably the rotor have to pull the wheel.

When is it a healthy time to change the break pads?
