Door sill plates and water

Hello,

Mine are starting to wrinkle and curl on the edges because the sill plates (which is just a thick vinal stick on) are outside the protected water seal around the door. So anytime it rains or I wash the car, it gets flooded inside there. I really thought that when I first heard about this, they would be metal of some sort.

Are the ones at this site metal or just the same?

There was a thread on how to use some tape to fix it. The tape they are using is failing.

Well it could be a glue. Anyway someone had posted the tape they used to fix it from coming off. I think it's 3M VHB.

Take it to the dealer and get them replaced. They should be covered under the warranty.

Yea but if the glue is not changed it will just happen over again if they put the same thing back on.

I need to take mine in. My passenger side is lifting up, and if it happens again, I'll have it replaced again. Remember you have a 3yr/36k bumper to bumper warranty.

But you need to use the 3m VHB and NOT what they have been using.

Maybe buy the tape and let the dealer do the labor portion. Or you could ask them to buy the tape or maybe they would have some in the shop.

I thought the warranty was 5 years / 100,000 miles...
