Something no one has noticed? Ignition Switch.
It seems that in all this talk about the Camaro, nobody has said anything about the keyless start...curious, I am, on the thoughts of those around me.

As long as they make it work on a manual - as in a shut-down sequence that makes sure the car know its in neutral or else it won't work. Unless they have 6-speed paddle shifters... either way... remote start FTW!

Keyless start would be great, but idk if remote start from outside the vehicle will be offered on a manual. Who knows, they may still do it!

isn't it Nissan that you carry a little device in your pocket and you can open all the doors start the car, etc no key needed. though neat i have my worries about it. and will ALWAYS have a spare car in that case

Ive owned a remote start, they are nice in extreme climates (was in Alaska for 8 years, just leave the heater on and start the car 15mins before you leave) and the opposite extreme Arizona for the AC. Personally though its just not worth the extra money and I wont get one again, its nifty though to start it up with someone next to the car going "what the hell theres nobody in the car!!?!?!?". I can see it being an available option though, if it is not just do what people in Alaska do, have the dealer install it as an after market item.
PS- Nobody in the country will install one on a manual, there was a lot of litigation about it because several people were killed in Alaska due to and autostart/remote start on a manual in gear running people over. If your planning on a manual I would count out the remote start. |

That's what I meant by a shut-down sequence. The one I know of has you leave it in neutral, turn the key and pull it out, get out of the car and push the 'lock' button to shut off the engine and lock the car. Then, when you push 'start', the unit knows you're in neutral and will allow the car to start. That's what I want, but I read the first post wrong, and thought everyone was talking about remote start, not push-button start. I'm a fan of both.

Ignition switches
They have already said we wont have the "normal" ignition switch with the butterfly, which is fine with me as long as the put a KEY switch on the dash or something. I dont know how everybody else feels, But I DONT want push button start that a lot of cars are coming with these days. Especially if its like the ones that you hit the button and it does the rest. If its goin to be push button at least be simple like a race car and it only cranks untill you let off the button. Not before, and not after. Any thoughts on this?

personally I'd love to have an aircraft switch to start (insert a keycard or little chip, lift up the red rocker, flip the switch to crank the engine), but that's not gonna happen.
From what the magazine editors have had to drive, it's a push button but it looked like he held the button in until the car started, so I don't know what it's going to end up as. Considering no info has been released and I'm just going off of a video I saw online, it's really just speculation right now. Same with the air bags in your other post. |

<---- havnt got to watch the videos thanks to dial up.... too far out in the country for cable. A hold till it starts push button would be ok with me as long as there is some kind of lock as well. thanks for the reply mindz, nice artwork btw.
