We should get a Philly Camaro Club going down there

For me it represents along-time muscle car dream. It'll be my third car, but the first one I own new. I've already planned road trips, and started talking to a couple of friends who take their own ponies to the track.

And maybe a hint of vanity, since I'll have a car that will turn some heads

For me it means the last chance to get a real performance car before the government screws it all up. The last time this happened it took 15 years to begin to recover... So I am going to thouroughly enjoy my new Camaro for a long, long time (and put a supercharger on it).

I have financed before with my 2006 Cobalt SS SC and paid it off in 2 years.

Yeah, it doesn't seem realistic to think that 16 year olds should be wasting their money on a car this expensive and to the parents' out there encouraging that kind of behavior, helping your kids out with the payments or even co-signing, you are completely irresponsible.

To all the youngsters here on the forums, save your money, make sure you have a steady, stable job, and if you go to school, make sure you walk out with a better paying job or with a better modicum of success. Otherwise you'll end up 26 years old, out of college, a shitty job, $50K+ or more in student loans and without a proverbial pot to piss in.

How do I know? Because I've been through exactly that. Took me a long time to get out of the hole and start making decent money for myself. Learning to act responsibly with your money should be priority number 1. Just my two cents.

Put me in the minority here but to me it is "just a car." I don't put too much in material goods... To me the only things that really matter are God, family and my wife. After we get the Camaro, my wife could honestly total it and all I would care about is whether she's alright. Sure I'll take care of it, spend too much money on it and enjoy driving it, but having a car never represented the fulfillment of a dream or anything like that.

If anything I guess I hope the Camaro makes idiotic Americans realize that not all or not even most American cars are junk and that American workers can turn out a product equal to or better than anything coming out of Japan, Korea or Germany.
