Kill an Auto?

Is anything terribly wrong if you can kill an auto?

I pulled into an area, threw her in reserve, applied gas, backed up, was going to shift back into drive and bam. She locked up and the engine died. Had to shift back into Park before I could turn the engine back on.

Never knew you could kill an auto. Any ideas or concerns?

*(I've tested her through much harder conditions and nothing has ever happened like this)

Thanks

You might have damaged the transmission. Also, auto cars will not start if youre not in park.

did you brake before you put it back into drive? It's harmful to the tranny if you change reverse and forward gears without braking I think.

Mine has done it a few times since I put the blower on. But it idles really low too. I think you're fine.

Yeah, make sure you are completely stopped when going from reverse to drive. And vise-versa

That time I came to a complete stop when I reserved. Then hit the brakes again when I tried to shift but was rolling a little when I tried to shift into drive.

I've had a slow roll and have shifted from R to N to D and vice versa and she's been fine.

I had OnStar run a diagnostic just in case and everything came back okay. I emailed my dealer to be on the safe side too.

I know, but your car being able to do it once, doesn't mean it likes it lol. Just brake full when you change gears, less stress on tranny imo.

this sounds like a topic that should be discussed in the challenger forum.
