Anyone using a trade in when getting your camaro?
Hi, I went to three different dealerships in central nebraska and the dealers all gave me about the same amount for my trade in.
Dealer 1- $10,000 for trade in -pay $3,000 above sticker Dealer 2- $8500 for trade in- pay sticker on camaro Dealer 3- $9500 for trade in- $1250 above sticker My trade in was going to be a 2008 black pontiac g5 gt 2dr..fully loaded, w/20k miles on it... i told the dealers it would have 36k when i go to trade so they put that in consideration... this car was worth 23k a year ago... what do you guys think of this? i thought my car would be worth more than that. Is the camaro going to have this fast of depreciation? i think this is really disappointing... i decided to wait until i begin to see the camaro at dealerships. I would like to test drive one b4 i order. i can also put more money down that way. i plan on someday getting a fully loaded 2LT RS |

That's lot of miles on a car that is barley a year old. That might be your problem.

Never trade in a vehicle if you can help it.
Sell your vehicle privately prior to the arrival of your Camaro. You'll get more for your card; MSRP or less on the Camaro. You need to remove the cards from the dealer's hands..... |

dealer 1 =$7000
dealer 2 = $8500 dealer 3 = $8250 go with dealer 2 its a better net gain and they are selling for sticker, dont give your business to some one who wants more.

I'm either selling or trading... depends on what the dealer offers. It will have less than 13k miles on it. But I'm leaning towards selling, there is always gonna be a demand for the car with the young crowd.
Have to wait and see. |

The auto market has collapsed. Values of most if not all cars have dropped dramatically, recently. Even a Mazda6 with a 4cyl high mpg engine has dropped. Check Ebay. Most cars are NOT selling. Reserve Not Met - over and over. IT HAS hit the fan.
They wanna get you three ways. 1. New car price 2. Trade in 3. Financing from hell (The higher the apr, the more they make) Plus, the market and trade-in/resale values have collapsed - for many reasons. Let's be careful out there. |

They should be adding 08's soon. When they do, check Intelliprice, their low number is what a dealer may offer - depending how hard they get you on the new car and financing.

I currently have a Toyota Tacoma. I have a lease for the truck, but the bank said that I either have to trade in the car and take on the remaining amount, or try to sell it. I got this information from calling the bank that owns the vehicle. This doesn't make sense to me. This was the point of me leasing it. I wanted to be able to trade it back in whenever and pay a small fee. Not worry about trying to sell it, especially when I didn't get a loan. wtf.
anyone have any good ideas? |

The only hope is a service like swap a lease where people assume your lease. Unfortunately, leases are for the full term only, and must be paid off. You might as well keep it. Or swap a lease or similar, if your leasing co allows assumption.
