For those who upgraded to the SS...

If you traded in your V6, did you look it up on the dealer's website to see what they are asking for it?

Found mine today and they are asking a few thousand more than they gave me on the trade. Probably pretty typical. I was surprised that they left all my mods on (both performance and cosmetic). Honestly, for the price and included mods, someone will be getting a really sweet deal. I hope she finds a good home!

It was a 2011 1LT with about 7K miles (had it for a little over a year and a half). I probably took a beating on the trade in, but better now than later I guess. They gave me around the middle of the range quoted by Black Book.

Always typical for them to ask more. They have to make their dollar off it when they resell...plus say they are asking 3K more...and negotiate 1500 off sale price and blah blah blah...they make their 500 - 1500 on the vehicle.

And the money you get off on a "new vehicle" could be either looked at as money off the price of the vehicle or more money for your vehicle.

It really depends what you got for yours and how much you paid for the ss. Only with hard numbers can anyone tell you if you got ripped off or not.

You probably did about as well as could be expected...My guess is that as more time goes on and more and more camaros are on the road the less valuable trade-ins will be...no big news there, just that if they are selling like hot cakes now, your trade in might be worth a little more.

This is what I got after I entered my car's current info which is a 2011 camaro 1LT/RS 6 spd manual with 19k miles. So far the highest trade in offer I got was 22k and the lowest 17k(which is a joke). I think I can get more, maybe up to 24k possibly if I keep looking and find that right dealer. It's not unheard of and there was couple of guys on this forum that gotten more. I think if you buy a car around invoice they will low ball you for the trade in, but if you pay around MSRP or a number that the dealer is comfortable with you might be able to get a very good trade in.

So did you get like 21k E.T.?

I think that getting ripped off to some extent is just the nature of the beast when trading in at a dealership.:(

I was more curious to find out if others researched their old cars after trading in, how much the dealers marked up the price and if they returned it to stock condition, or not.

Yeah, pretty close. Wow, at least it wasn't 17K...that is really low

Found my 2SS on car.com. After several days of haggling and me leaving the dealership once, they finally gave me 22,500 for my 2010 1LT with 12,000 miles and brought the 2010 2SS down to 26,500 with 7,500 miles. I'd have liked to gone newer but for the price and deal it was worth it to me

I got my V6 in 2009 for $26,000 (1LT)

On their website they originally had it listed for $25,997...

Now I think its down to $24,995 or so.

http://www.hendrickchevy.com/detail-...d-8101559.html

Edit:

I got offered $16,500 for trade in and told them no less than $20,000 so $20,000 is what I got.

When I traded mine in, they listed it on their website for $6k over what they gave me. They left it exactly as I traded it in, including exhaust, spoiler, stripes, etc...

The car sat on their lot at that price for 3 months. They eventually cut it down to under $2k over what they gave me and it was gone in a week. Just hope the poor sucker that bought it doesn't mind dealing with an ailing AY6 transmission...
