Tune with mods listed question?
OK, folks be easy on me as I have tried to search, and I did find many post about this, but nailing it down to my specific questions is a little harder. So what are we working with....
2013 Camaro SS L99 (STOCK) Modification incoming 1. Corsa Catback exhaust Link 2. Z-Force hood by MPD (Email out to Eric now) Link 3. CAI intake that ties into the Z-force ram air Link So my question are do I really need a tune? I hate to play with the computer if I don't have too. Talking with Ted over at Jannetty he stated that with just the Corsa catback its not needed, but might not get the full potential. Now that I'm adding the CAI intake with the Ram air hood into the mix I'm kinda at a loss. This is my daily driver, and with the modification above I'm going "MORE" for sound and looks, rather then performance or gains. Yes, I know a lot of money for sound a looks, but those are the two things I would only change from the factory car AS-IS. I'm just concerned with the more air coming "IN" and the more air going "OUT" it could really mess with my Air/Fuel ratio without the tune. Of course I don't want to lose HP without doing the tune either ! Please to all you experienced tuners I would be all ears to your feedback! Thanks again for reading my post! |

you do not NEED a tune with those mods.
Will a tune help? Yea a tune will help on a stock car. But with those mods and you not wanting to play with the computer you will be fine. I drove my 2012 L99 over a year with a catback and CAI. Just installed headers last weekend and now I will be getting a tune.

@steveo thanks again. I know that most CAI no real tune needed just wasnt sure about the Z-force ram air hood directing more air right onto the CAI. Thanks again bud!

Check out this thread. Its not the same hood but he is saying that he needs a different CAI because of the hood
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=307021 EDIT: NVM, I did not know there was a CAI designed for that hood. I still don't think you will NEED a tune.

You might need a tune to prevent those puppies from busting out of your avatar.

Yeah Eric over at MPD designed the hood to work directly with the CAI intake see picture below on how the ram air seals directly over the CAI intake

Yes, I believe its exactly like CAI inc. but the top portion is suction to the hood gasket so air hits directly on top of the CAI.
