Clay is something that is done everyone once in a while, at least for me. You should do it whenever you do a full detail and by that I mean: strip, wash, clay, polish, wax.

It's even more important since your car is your DD. You're picking up bits of everything while you're driving and while it's parked. It's nothing you need to do regularly, but twice a year would be a good starting point.

Read this thread on the claying process itself. Once you truly understand what claying does, then you can better determine if it is something that you would consider a necessity. I can say this. If you don't clay your car when necessary as a starting process on the way to shineville, then yo' shine ain't gonna be nuthin' like my shine.

I've found that RJT is a PITA to maintain as well. Shows every little swirl or smudge. I love my Adams detailing kit. That thing is a lifesaver. A time consuming lifesaver but well worth it.

love the look of a clean black car, but i'm glad I have white. looking after that and the red Colorado is like an extra full time job as it is. Cindy seems to have an attraction for pot holes and mud pudles.

A 1 to 1 ratio of distilled water and distilled white venegar will remove any water spots you have. It is fantastic!!

Sometimes... it depends on the water spots and how long they have been on the car.

CGM isn't too bad, but you can definitely tell that there are swirl marks (like mine does )

I even went to a detail place and they had the nerve to tell me that, "...every car has swirl marks and you'll always have them." They must not know Junkman...

Well, it has worked everytime for me, although I don't let water spots sit for very long. Probably the reason.

I too used Meguires Clay Bar kit and was impressed. Only problem is that I took so long. By the time I was done, the sun was out and the car got very hot and could not wax :(
Will try again some other day and improve my speed. Hopefully.

The worse water spots I have ever seen was when my wife parked her Tahoe out by the street on a hot sunny day and the irrigation, which runs from the well, sprayed the vehicle. I came home that afternoon and saw them as I was pulling in. Water and vinegar would not even touch it, nor claying. I had to end up using the PC with S&HR and I worked 12 hours on the hood and entire left side to remove them. Stay away from those irrigation systems!
