Anybody run Shell Rotella T6 5w40 full synthetic? I'm ready to get flamed on this one but I've ran it in my bikes (both current and past) for over 20,000miles and I am not gentle on them. Many friends that have drag cars run it with good results as well.

I will be bringing more data to process that AMSOIL exeeds the GM requirements hands down,
Don't know of the AMSOIL long term effect on these engines but when I switched from Mobil 1 to AMSOIL 5w-30 XL I noticed better cold starts even in 15 degree F temps and better performance as well. I know that factory stuff you guys are getting for $5 is literally crap and the first oil change after 4000 miles with my previous L99 it felt like sludge compared to the used Mobil 1 and AMSOIL.

Just changed my oil at 17k miles and made the switch to Royal Purple, manual tranny and rear diff are next for the RP swap out. I went with the K&N oil filter as everybody was sold out of the RP oil filters. I will order online and stock up on them and be completely RP very soon.

Little old post, but I found this on the web. Thinking about using Pennzoil and want to start doing my own oil changes. Not sure if I'll save any money doing myself, but I will see.

I do my own oil change sometimes and it does cost less, the problem is getting the car high enough to do it and dealing with the mess but you know it was done right,as far as oil brand I think they're mostly the same but I have been using M1 syn and bosch filter and change oil&filter every 5K,which I think is the most important thing is regular changes and maint.

I was just told by another member(scott@bjorn3d) that he changed to Pennzoil platinum and the ticking noise that you hear in the SS motors with the auto stopped. I just bought some and will be trying in the spring when I get her back out.

Switched from Mobil 1 to Valvoline VR1 synthetic. A bit concerned with all of the negative information on M1 lately, still using M1 in our daily drivers.
