FYI: Noticeable Difference in Audio Volume Level

I know some people, including myself, have encountered some volume variances of their radios / mp3 players / XM radio.

I was just digging around over at GM TechLink and came across this:

If this was already posted at some point in time, I apologize.

I love the fact that Radio, XM, CD, Line in, etc. EQ properties can be set individually... It's yet another reason I refuse to install an after market head unit.

MANY people are unaware of this, so I'm sure this information will be found useful.

FNG, a lot of aftermarket radios also allow for individual level adjustment. A lot don't, but a surprising number do. Individual tone settings goes WAY back to Alpine's Source Tone Memory from, gee, 20 years ago or so.

But, yes, unless you want nav or A/V, you can use the stock head as the centerpiece of a pretty darn good system. Now, mind you, the speakers are about as musical and accurate as a soup can...

Finally got around to investigating the EQ settings on all radio bands - AM / FM / XM and set them all identically via the "manual" setting. They can also be individually set to "pop", "rock", etc for whichever band you prefer that pre-set setting. All one needs to do is press the "Tone" button on the radio for each band and then select the preferred setting.

I didn't try out the "CD" and "AUX" (mp3) settings but it's very simple if one knows how to access the equalizer settings.

Just an FYI for those curious about this potential issue and how to solve it.

Bluetooth is very compressed as well. I used to stream music to my stereo via Bluetooth on my phone. It's cool how you can use the steering wheel controls to skip tracks via Bluetooth, but, damn, it sounds a LOT better if you use a stereo line-in from the actual jack on the phone instead.
