Just installed whipple, but dumb problem...

My AM/FM radio reception now sucks. A lot of static plus I can hear the engine revving through the speakers. I've checked and re-checked all my grounds and wiring - all seems fine. Any ideas what the problem could be? I'm posting in the FI section only because it's related to my SC install. Thanks.

I have a very similar problem. My radio reception sucks compared to before the install. I can't pick up local stations without static. Static gets worse with higher rpm. I do not have the revving problem. All my other sources work fine. I haven't had time to mess with it. I'm currently stationed away from home.

I can't pick up a station to save my life after my Maggie install, unless I am within 20-30 miles of it.

Is it just local stations? Do any of you have XM radio, and is it screwed up too?

Wow I didn't expect others to be having the same problem.
Must have something to do with replacing a plastic intake with
a metal one or possible static electricity from the spinning gears of
the SC?? Just surprised nobody posted this problem before.

94guy, I thought maybe the plugs too but I don't see anything different about them except they don't have the factory dialectric grease on them. I used dielectric grease from autozone.

Hmm, didn't give it much thought, but my radio sucks with my Maggie too. Didn't affect XM though, but I don't use XM, just plug up my Zune when I want some music.

RFI interference typically comes from
1) non-RFI insulated plug wires
2) Power/signal cables run next to your radio cables
3) Ignition systems

Not sure what got relocated to cause the issue but the blower itself isn't the cause.

Just did some detective work. It's the msd boost-a-pump. When it's energized radio interference spikes. Now I just need to figure out how to fix it.

Is it drawing power away from the radio and other components (such as lights dimming), or is it causing some sort of interference?

I don't think that is the case for myself since I do not currently have a BAP.
