I can agree with this part of the post. Sorry, yeah donuts are fun (when I was in highschool I did it a lot) and doing figure eights can help you learn counter steer and drift control for road racing, but the whole "let's burn our tires around the whole track" is well, uhm, not sure the word I'm looking for. . . a waste of time? Trying to be polite.

PS: I think probably 8 of the video viewing counts were from me...wait, make that 9

That video was AWESOME! And RockStar.....I used to feel the same way you do ...TILL I saw a drifting competition in person! Now I love it. The precise control the drivers have to have is incredible! When you are there in person you really get behind the driver you choose! I have total respect now and love drifting competitions!

These guys have some serious skills to be able to control the cars that way.

Trust me when I say that drifting takes WAY more talent than it looks. I was the crew chief on a race team for years and every time I heard that we invited those "other" drivers down for some friendly competition. Some of these competitions even turned into 10,000+ crowds at Irwindale Speedway. Everyone from Indy, NASCAR, Le Mans, GT1, and other series have bowed down after some serious fun at the track and to the talent and car control these drivers have. Anyone who says otherwise is simply ignorant

sick buck

+1

that new steering angle is crazy - it'll stop the car at low speeds!

All those tires get a bit expensive too.

I'd say the guys are gifted and also have a heart big enough to accommodate that kind of risks.

If I remember correctly, it was in the 1:21 range on street tires running the clockwise configuration. That was also the first outing in the car. It has come along way in development in the last 11 months.
