yes, you can drive the car without traction control in all weather conditions without crashing. Heck, you could drive your camaro during an ice storm on summer tires without crashing as long as you're not on any severe inclines...
HOWEVER, as with using winter tires in the winter, using traction control during everyday driving makes your drive EASIER. Sure you don't need them, but the second you get in some sort of sticky situation, you'll be glad you had winter tires to stop quickly or traction control to stop your back end from sliding out... Technology comes around to help make life easier, don't fear it. If you can drive without traction control, more power to you, but even if you can, there's absolutely no need to if you don't even plan on pushing the car to its limits. Why turn it off if you're just driving to work?

I never even owned a car that had theses nannies as you call them. Also have had a ton of rearwheel drive cars, including early Vettes. I never had any trouble after adjusting for weather conditions. What a bunch of sissy-boys these new Camaro owners are. bragging that they can drive with them off. |

When turning off all nannies, it doesn't turn off torque management in the LS3 does it?

I think it does because it's part of stabilitrak, which gets turned off with the long 7 second button press.

This is the first car I've driven with Traction Control, Stabilitrak, Torque Management, blah blah blah. I've driven with it all off a few times and couldn't feel much difference between driving with it on. I agree with what your saying though, no one should be afraid to drive without the nannies. The car isn't going to do 360's or pull the front wheels in the air just because they're off. Just respect the cars power and drive responsibly.

Bear with me here guys, I'm relatively new to the site and have a 1SS M6 on order. I've owned several Mustangs in the past, so I'm in no way a newbie to muscle cars, etc.. Yikes, in fact, I'm an old dude (67).
Anyway, I have downloaded the PDF Owner's Manual and read the applicable sections on T/C and Stabilitrak. So, I'm going to assume that when you refer to turning the "nannies" off, you're disabling both T/C AND Stabilitrak, correct? Another question for ya: for a clear day, dry pavement normal street driving condition, do the majority of you guys turn the nannies off or do you just turn T/C off and leave Stabilitrac activated? Thanks in advance for any insight into my questions!! |

meh, it's the internet, who knows what's true anymore. But I'd think if people are able to brake drive shafts while racing with the nannies off, torque management is either off or very limited.
