Commits weekly crime
|
The temptation of the Z06 is strong
I love my Stingray. For some reason, I couldn't wait a year for the Z06...and it was worth it...I've put over 30,000 miles on the Stingray since May.
Now, I'm seriously considering trading it in for a Z06. Why must Chevy keep making better and more awesome cars?

I just read something over at Yahoo motors about a 15 ZO6 engine let go at 891 miles .
There are always a bugs to work out and I'm sure Chevy will figure out what happened . I would love to get a 15-16 ZO6 myself in a couple years . |

The owner of the car posted about it on corvette forum. Engines blow up on lots of cars, it happens, especially first model year.

The new Z06 is an amazing vehicle. I can see why you're tempted.
I like everything about it except one very important thing; I can't fit in it! When seated my knees are pressed firmly against the lower dash. Since you fit well in your current C7, the Z06 isn't an issue.

If you can spring it, I would..as far as the blown engine goes, not all are failures(so far..)

No.. it doesn't "just happen". I hope they find the cause of this as something simple like an oil filter failure and not something internal that GM knows about from testing (hence the conservative tune). |

The new Z06 is tempting but I would wait. They have as serious issue with heatsoaking and engines overheating and shutting down after only a few pulls at a drag strip...in December... Wait until they come out with a second year model. These first years are a nightmare.

Wait until this time next year and allow the first production series to get done.
There is an issue with these cars, only Bowtie Blind™ or people with a vested interest in defending GM will deny it. It may only be a tune issue, it may be a heatsoak issue, it may be any number of things, time will tell. LT1's are having problems, the LT4 is having problems, just give it time. Everything will work out without a doubt and GM engineers are going to fix it. |

I think I would wait until the 1st year run is completed. The Z06 has had some teething problems. Overheating on the track, blown engine - it dropped a valve or something(Its $30K btw), 2 reports on 1 forum of the car dying on the road with less than 1000 miles on it. (One needed a new PCU) and the overheating/GM Tune issue that is really upsetting the track guys as well as tons of paint, body panel fit and poor leather seating installations complaints.
That being said. Dang is that a beautiful and awesome ride! |

There is no heatsoak issue, that's been proved already.

Yeah it does just happen, there are always unknown gremlins with new engines, especially high performance ones like the lt4 If you think GM is going to knowingly release an engine that has a chance of detonating and pay 30k every time they need to replace a motor then

So when Randy Pobst had to shut the car down because of heat soak, it wasn't because of heat soak?
