CONTI EXTREME CONTACT DWS.
I can't go another winter with the factory summer tires. My local tire dealer suggests the above all weather tires in the factory size. Has anyone bought these ? They are $1305.90 mounted, taxed, out the door. I'm interested in the best winter tires for my SS more than the price.
Any suggestions ? |

I just bought a set a few weeks ago and had the dealer install them. I'm using them for my summer tires, since I want more treadlife. I bought a separate set of tires for winter (Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow). So far the Conti's are doing fine in rain and on dry pavement. I didn't have a chance to take them through snow. Check tire rack. I had them shipped to my dealer for about $980 total. There are tire shops that will mount/balance them for you for about $25 per tire, so I think you can do better on price.

they are a great all-season tire. If you drive in a lot of snow, go with a more "Winter/Snow" tire.
I have them and love them. |

Thanks guys. My SS is only a toy but I like to take it out in the winter when the roads are dry. I don't care what anyone says, at 30-35 or below these summer tires are scarry.
Sounds like these Conti's are OK to go with. |

I got some snow tires just on the REAR(summer up front), on the stock wheels, worked fine in michigan winter.

just bought a set of the continental extreme dws for my ss. went with 315/35/20s on my car. in was initially mixed on the tread pattern. but it grows on you. initially the tires are rock hard and easy to spin. but after about 1500 miles or so they really shine. feel like they outperform the factory pirellis. and not to mention the treadwear being a lot better. i just put a 4000 mile roadtrip on these tires and it didnt wear on them one bit. whereas the factory tires showed noticeable wear. i have to say these are a great bang for the buck tire.

I have them on my GTO. They're much softer in the sidewall than the stock RE040s. I didn't like losing the steering feel. However, they're also infinitely better in the snow.
